Ultra Health Laboratories, Inc. and Bionate International, Inc. have issued a voluntary recall of Vinerol tablets in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The dietary supplement, marketed in blister packages of two and seven tablets, is promoted for increasing desire, confidence and sexual performance. The supplement has been shown to contain the unlabeled prescription drug ingredient, sildenafil (Viagra®). Interaction between nitrates and sildenafil can result in profound and life-threatening lowering of blood pressure. Consumers who have purchased Vinarol, which is sold both over the counter and on the internet, are urged to immediately discontinue their use and return them to their place of purchase. To date, no reports of injury or adverse reactions from the use of the product have been reported.
